Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the esteemed Patron of Asante Kotoko, is reportedly preparing to unveil a new Board of Directors for the prominent Ghanaian football club.
According to Nhyira FM, this highly anticipated announcement is set to take place before the start of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season, which kicks off in September.
The club has been operating under an Interim Management Committee (IMC) for the past year, following the dissolution of the previous board led by Dr. Kwame Kyei.
The establishment of a new, permanent Board of Directors is seen as crucial for the club’s future stability and governance, particularly as per the requirements laid out by the Club Licensing Committee.
According to the committee’s rules, an interim management body is not permitted to run a club beyond a single season.
The current IMC has been instrumental in overseeing the club’s operations during this transitional period. It comprised several notable figures, including Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, a respected chartered accountant, and the Kontomponiaferehene.
Additionally, the IMC featured former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah, renowned for his coaching expertise, and Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, a well-regarded figure in Ghanaian football.
Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi served as the administrative manager, contributing significantly to the club’s administration before his departure midway through the season.
The impending announcement of a new Board of Directors marks a significant step for Asante Kotoko, as the club seeks to solidify its leadership structure and comply with regulatory requirements.
This move is expected to bring renewed focus and direction as the club prepares for the upcoming season. The fans and stakeholders eagerly await the official declaration, hoping for a leadership team that can lead the club to greater success on and off the pitch.
